The Science
There’s a common misconception that hangovers are caused by dehydration. Actually, they are caused by the accumulation of a toxic byproduct of your body’s alcohol metabolization process called acetaldehyde.
Your liver breaks down alcohol in a two-step process using the enzymes alcohol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase. In the first step, alcohol dehydrogenase breaks down alcohol into toxic acetaldehyde. In the next step, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase converts acetaldehyde into harmless acetic acid.
However, the amount of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase that your body naturally produces cannot break down the harmful acetaldehyde quickly enough, causing it to build up and create those terrible symptoms the morning after. This is where Sober Rush comes in.
Sober Rush contains a coenzyme for acetaldehyde dehydrogenase that promotes its function and speeds up the reaction in breaking down acetaldehyde.
